Prof. Dr. Louis Roule was born on this day. A French naturalist, he published on both fishes and invertebrates, describing 122 taxa. He held the chair of zoology (reptiles and fish) at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris from 1910 to 1937.

The Slickhead genus Rouleina along with 17 species of fishes and invertebrates with the epithet roulei are named in his honour.
