Wolfgang Klausewitz (1922 – ) was born on this day.
He is a German ichthyologist. Head of the fish section at the Senckenberg Research Institute and Natural History Museum (1954 – 74). Klausewitz participated in the Xarifa expeditions of Hans Hass to the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean (1957, 1958), and revisited the Red Sea in 1964 on board the German research vessel Meteor. He published nearly 300 articles in scientific and popular journals, and numerous books.

Klausewitz has described around 85 and is honoured in the names of a fish genus, Klausewitzia, and in the names of a number of species under klausewitzi.
