William Crawford Williamson (1816 – 1895) died on this day.
He was an English naturalist and palaeobotanist.
Williamson’s zoological work included investigations into the development of the teeth and bones of fishes (1842 – 1851), an important monograph on the recent Foraminifera for the Ray Society in 1857, and a monograph on the Rotifera (1861).

Williamson is honoured in the names of a number of species of foraminiferans under williamsoni.
