George Stewardson Brady (1832-1921) was born on this day. He was a British zoologist specialising in copepods, ostracods, and related crustaceans; professor of natural history at the Hancock Museum (now Great North Museum), Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Brady published the 3-volume A Monograph of the Free and Semi-parasitic Copepoda of the British Isles (1880) and wrote the reports on the Ostracoda and Copepoda of the Challenger Expedition.
Brady is honoured in the names of a numerous taxa and in the names of species under bradyi and bradii.
