Walter Faxon was born on this day. He was a US ornithologist and carcinologist; Curator of the Invertebrate Department of the Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard. He spent many years researching and classifying US crayfish, covering 110 species and subspecies in his 1914 review of the subject.
