G. Evelyn Hutchinson was born on this day. An English born US zoologist and ecologist who specialized in limnology. Often referred to variously as the father of modern ecology and/or limnology. Hutchinson Lake, Ontario, Canada, is named for him. He is honoured in the names of at least 22 taxa including two genera, species names include hutchinsoni, hutchinsonii, and hutchinsoniana.
